Swimming & Diving Off to a Good Start

The Cypress College Swimming & Diving team is off to a good start this season. With a fifth place finish and a few records already broken, this could be one of the best teams to swim at Cypress College in quite some time.

Chargers Place High at Mt. SAC Invite

Walnut, Calif. - The Cypress College men's and women's swim and dive team had a strong showing at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.

Freshman Jacelyn Youngerman finished the day as the Cypress College women's team high point scorer with 48.  Youngerman's 5th place time of 25.76 was the best finish of the meet for the Chargers out of 170 swimmers competing in the 50 yard freestyle'

Sophomore diver Megan Morse earned a second place finish out of 22 diverswith a score of 200.70 - just seven points behind first place. In the 200 yard breaststroke, freshman Kelsey Kendall finished in 3rd place.

On the men's side, Damon Chandler claimed high point scorer honors with a total point score of with 42 points.  His best finish of the day was a fourth place showing in the 100 yard breaststroke where he outs wam 83 other swimmers to crack the top five with a time of 1:00:76 4th out of 87 swimmers in the 100 yard breaststroke.  His time was 1:00.76.

Running a close second behind Chandler in  the mens team point total race was sophomore Jeff Tsim, who finished with 34 points. Tism best finish of the day came in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.39.

The dive team's leading scorer was freshman Frank Grey with 228.65 total points. Grey out dove 24 other divers in a field of 26 to capture 2nd place, and narrowly missing the top spot by just three points.
